BioSolve® Pinkwater Selected for Long Island Railroad Groundwater Remediation
Lexington, MA. – The BioSolve® Company (TBC), manufacturers and distributors of BioSolve® Pinkwater® Hydrocarbon Mitigation Agent™, was selected by Laurel Environmental Associates (Huntington Station, NY) to supply BioSolve® Pinkwater for groundwater remediation at Long Island Railroad’s (LIRR) Holban Yard.
The project plan calls for the remediation of an onsite Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (LNAPL) petroleum plume in groundwater at the LIRR Holban Yard, Jamaica, New York. The plume is estimated to cover about 3,000 square feet and LNAPL thickness in site monitoring wells has been recorded up to one foot.
The project engineer, Ganett Fleming (Woodbury, NY) developed the remediation plan calling for surfactant flushing to remove residual hydrocarbons trapped in the soil. “Surfactants are generally effective in achieving these results, are non-toxic, and are easy to handle in the field,” noted Gannett Fleming in their project specification.
Following a competitive bid process, Laurel Environmental Associates was awarded the remediation contract in the fall of 2013. The first order of BioSolve® Pinkwater for this project was shipped in mid-January in anticipation of the initial surfactant application. “We are confident that Pinkwater will perform as expected for removing LNAPL from the soil,” remarked, Karl Loos, Managing Director for The BioSolve® Company.
BioSolve® Pinkwater, the leading hydrocarbon mitigation agent, has been used by industrial, municipal and environmental customers for over 30 years, and is available directly from The BioSolve® Company in the US and through master distributors around the world.
The primary applications for BioSolve® Pinkwater are soil and groundwater remediation, vapor suppression, industrial cleaning and emergency response.
